By using electricity to shoot chemicals back and forth between an intricate number of connected brain cells, it allows us to think, feel, see and wonder how this all works.</p><br/><p>Not only is it evolving like a magical spider web when we are born, it also keeps us alive when we are sleeping at night. Imagine what it would take to always remember to have your heart beat and to breath in and out – we would not get anything done :-).</p><br/><p>And with all the crazy and amazing technologies we have now-a-days, we still don’t know how we actually remember ‘stuff’.</p><br/><p>Even more amazing – at least to me – is the ability to comprehend and to assimilate. Do me a favor and read the following text:</p><br/><p><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>7H15 M3554G3 </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large;'>53RV35 7O PR0V3 </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>H0W 0UR M1ND5 C4N </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>D0 4M4Z1NG 7H1NG5! </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>1MPR3551V3 7H1NG5! </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>1N 7H3 B3G1NN1NG </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>17 WA5 H4RD BU7 </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>N0W, 0N 7H15 LIN3 </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>Y0UR M1ND 1S </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>R34D1NG 17 </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>4U70M471C4LLY </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large;'>W17H 0U7 3V3N </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>7H1NK1NG 4B0U7 17, </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>B3 PROUD! 0NLY </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>C3R741N P30PL3 C4N </span><span style='color: red; font-family: Arial; font-size: large; line-height: 1.5em;'>R3AD 7H15.</span></p><br/><p>Quite amazing – isn’t it ? Don’t forget though – learning correct spelling is still important ! Yet it seems not critical to our survival. Just in case you were not able to read the text above, this is the text in ‘normal’ writing. Read it and then read the text above again: THIS MESSAGE SERVES TO PROVE HOW OUR MINDS CAN DO AMAZING THINGS! IMPRESSIVE THINGS! IN THE BEGINNING IT WAS HARD BUT NOW, ON THIS LINE YOUR MIND IS READING IT AUTOMATICALLY WITH OUT EVEN THINKING ABOUT IT, BE PROUD! ONLY CERTAIN PEOPLE CAN READ THIS.</p><br/><p>A great book – I can personally recommend – to learn more about the brain, is <a href='http://brainrules.net/'>BRAIN RULES by John Medina</a>. An amazing book with simple rules that one can follow and understand (as well as the genetical biological details for the nerds in us).</p><br/></div><br/><h6 style='font-size: 1em;' class='zemanta-related-title'>Related articles</h6><br/><ul style='margin: 0; This has been my experience so far. Be it a city, a software, really anything – I typically was able to find something that got me started in my search of understanding more about the topic in question.</p><br/><p>With the caveat that I understood that I can not fully rely on information on Wikipedia to be 100$ true and verified. It has been created by people like you and me, and then added or changed over time.</p><br/><p>A legal court in Germany has now ruled that Wikipedia is legally responsible for some disputed content. It is NOT that Wikipedia now has to confirm and verify everything. But if something is disputed to be wrong, they’ll have to look into it.</p><br/><p>Bummer for Wikipedia ? Bummer for open source referencing ? I think the effect benefits the end-user. There have been circumstances where I ran into some things that I knew to be not accurate ( <img class='wp-smiley' alt=':-)' src='http://www.insightknowledge.com/wp/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif'/> ) on Wikipedia. Now there is a process to correct that. So how does one manage personal experience. While I think there is no best answer that fits all lifestyles and ways of making experiences, I do think that there are some basic rules that allow everyone to improve their own means of PKM:</span></p><br/><ul><li><span style='line-height: 13px; font-size: 16px;'>have a way of making notes anywhere and anytime (computer, phone, cloud)</span></li><br/><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>make sure the notes are searchable (full-text)</span></li><br/><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>notes need to allow to capture text, graphics, URLs – the more the better</span></li><br/><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>notes that are interlinkable (like wikilinks) are best to link relevant information to each other in a semi-automated way</span></li><br/><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>a tool like dokuwiki also allows for sharing individual notes with others. Dokuwiki is also great to run locally (as part of a WAMP implementation; Windows/Apache/MySQL/PHP) or in the cloud (hosted/self-hosted)</span></li><br/><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>a blog (like wordpress; like this one) or a dokuwiki (with add-ons) also allows for other to interact and discuss one experience. </span></li><br/><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>combining a wysiwyg wiki with a social network allows for the creation of a knowledge network</span></li><br/><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>another great way of capturing personal knowledge are tiddlywiki pages, editable, local html pages that behalf like wiki pages</span></li><br/><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>My personal experience with personal experience (pun intended lol) – I have been capturing information for reference, thoughts on experiences I made ideas that flew through my mind – with different wiki solutions that interact. As such one will have a hard time finding a software that will do Knowledge Management for you – its mostly about exchanging experiences in relation to information available.</span></p><br/><p><span style='font-size: 16px;'>There are a couple of good platforms though, that are flexible enough to adapt to the principles of Knowledge Management.</span></p><br/><p><span style='font-size: 16px;'><a rel='wikipedia' target='_blank' href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Lotus_Notes' title='IBM Lotus Notes' class='zem_slink'>Lotus Notes</a> used to be a good one. Sharepoint is a good one. Tikiwiki, Alfresco, <a rel='homepage' target='_blank' href='http://www.drupal.org' title='Drupal' class='zem_slink'>Drupal</a> and <a rel='homepage' target='_blank' href='http://wordpress.org' title='WordPress' class='zem_slink'>WordPress</a> are all platforms that allow you to embed and link information (content), people and processes together. People share about their ‘expertise’ and you can ‘trust’ them on that topic. Interesting approach – though what makes an expert an expert ?? What does ‘trust’ in this context mean. The website (no ios or android available that I know of) is pretty basic and simple. Another ‘let’s see where this is going’ from me. Update – Zemanta tells me that there is an android app available. See below under related articles.</p><br/><h6 style='font-size: 1em;' class='zemanta-related-title'>Related articles</h6><br/><ul style='margin: 0; padding: 0; overflow: hidden;' class='zemanta-article-ul zemanta-article-ul-image'><li style='padding: 0; background: none; list-style: none; display: block; float: left; vertical-align: top; text-align: left; width: 84px; font-size: 11px; margin: 2px 10px 10px 2px;' class='zemanta-article-ul-li-image zemanta-article-ul-li'><a target='_blank' href='http://dottech.org/98733/android-review-sulia/' style='box-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #999; padding: 2px; display: block; border-radius: 2px; text-decoration: none;'><img src='http://i.zemanta.com/148690203_80_80.jpg' alt='' style='padding: 0; margin: 0; border: 0; display: block; width: 80px; max-width: 100%;'/></a><a target='_blank' href='http://dottech.org/98733/android-review-sulia/' style='display: block; overflow: hidden; text-decoration: none; line-height: 12pt; height: 80px; padding: 5px 2px 0 2px;'>[Android] Get customized social content on your lock screen with Sulia</a></li><br/><li style='padding: 0; background: none; list-style: none; display: block; float: left; vertical-align: top; text-align: left; width: 84px; font-size: 11px; margin: 2px 10px 10px 2px;' class='zemanta-article-ul-li-image zemanta-article-ul-li'><a target='_blank' href='http://philbradley.typepad.com/phil_bradleys_weblog/2012/11/sulia.html' style='box-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #999; padding: 2px; display: block; border-radius: 2px; text-decoration: none;'><img src='http://i.zemanta.com/124598426_80_80.jpg' alt='' style='padding: 0; margin: 0; border: 0; display: block; width: 80px; max-width: 100%;'/></a><a target='_blank' href='http://philbradley.typepad.com/phil_bradleys_weblog/2012/11/sulia.html' style='display: block; overflow: hidden; text-decoration: none; line-height: 12pt; height: 80px; padding: 5px 2px 0 2px;'>Sulia</a></li><br/><li style='padding: 0; background: none; list-style: none; display: block; float: left; vertical-align: top; text-align: left; width: 84px; font-size: 11px; margin: 2px 10px 10px 2px;' class='zemanta-article-ul-li-image zemanta-article-ul-li'><a target='_blank' href='http://teacherlingo.com/Utility/Track.aspx?a=rainbowswithinreach1&p=736892&u=http://rainbowswithinreach.blogspot.com/2013/02/a-rainbow-blizzard-and-more-sulia-google.html' style='box-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #999; padding: 2px; display: block; border-radius: 2px; text-decoration: none;'><img src='http://i.zemanta.com/146114937_80_80.jpg' alt='' style='padding: 0; margin: 0; border: 0; display: block; width: 80px; max-width: 100%;'/></a><a target='_blank' href='http://teacherlingo.com/Utility/Track.aspx?a=rainbowswithinreach1&p=736892&u=http://rainbowswithinreach.blogspot.com/2013/02/a-rainbow-blizzard-and-more-sulia-google.html' style='display: block; overflow: hidden; text-decoration: none; line-height: 12pt; height: 80px; padding: 5px 2px 0 2px;'>A Rainbow Blizzard and More (Sulia & Google+)</a></li><br/></ul><div style='margin-top: 10px; height: 15px;' class='zemanta-pixie'><a href='http://www.zemanta.com/?px' title='Enhanced by Zemanta' class='zemanta-pixie-a'><img src='http://img.zemanta.com/zemified_e.png?x-id=920a0745-0657-47ef-99ea-dcff6f732130' alt='Enhanced by Zemanta' style='border: none; float: right;' class='zemanta-pixie-img'/></a></div><br/><div style='padding-bottom:20px; padding-top:10px;'><a href='http://www.hupso.com/share/' class='hupso_toolbar'><img alt='Share' style='padding-top:5px; float:left;' src='http://static.hupso.com/share/buttons/share-medium.png'/></a></div> <br/><a href='http://www.insightknowledge.com/wp/?p=1613'>Do you trust SULIA ??</a>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10334780922783683570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5829718.post-22674024744678002722013-03-10T09:34:00.001-05:002013-03-10T09:34:22.728-05:00Sharing an idea on the Zemanta blog - mobile Ads by choice ?<p> </p><br/><div style='width: 250px;' class='wp-caption alignright'><a target='_blank' href='http://www.flickr.com/photos/73645804@N00/6518592941'><img height='105' width='240' src='http://farm8.static.flickr.com/7141/6518592941_2938a514ae_m.jpg' alt='like life, advertising finds a way' title='like life, advertising finds a way' class='zemanta-img-inserted zemanta-img-configured'/></a><p class='wp-caption-text'>like life, advertising finds a way (Photo credit: woodleywonderworks)</p></div><br/><p><a href='http://www.zemanta.com/blog/zemanta-hires-todd-sawicki-president/'>http://www.zemanta.com/blog/zemanta-hires-todd-sawicki-president/</a></p><br/><p>In response to the Zemanta’s blog post of Todd Sawicki joining Zemanta as president – and him sharing his ideas on mobile ads – I shared the following idea.</p><br/><p>Ads are – well, let’s say – an unavoidable given these days. The human brain files long-term memories, organi ational knowledge files documents. We use it to keep track of processes, experiences, people – concepts that hold true over time, ongoing relationships, etc.</div><br/><div/><br/><div>Then there is the dynamic memory. How tools and processes work, relationships we build for temporary purposes.
